About The Project
CREA-UP - Creative Upcycling for Sustainable Art & Design: Building Creative Upcycling Community is a project co-funded by the European Union under European Education and Culture Executive Agency by the powers delegated by the European Commission. CREA-UP aims to instill the habits of reusing, repairing and repurposing products within society by establishing a creative community.
Building a community where creativity meets circularity
CREA-UP is a 20-month journey co-funded by the European Union, uniting designers, artists, makers, and changemakers to imagine a more sustainable future — one where reusing, repairing and repurposing are part of everyday creative practice.
Coordinated by Les Créatives de Demain (Nice, France) and developed in partnership with 3 other organizations across Europe, the project is about more than just upcycling — it’s about growing a creative, collaborative, and conscious community that redefines our relationship with waste.
Inspired by the values of the New European Bauhaus and the European Green Deal, CREA-UP merges design, sustainability, accessibility, and innovation. It puts creativity at the center of climate action, recognizing the power of art and design to spark change — not just in objects, but in mindsets and systems.
Through hands-on labs, co-creation workshops, exhibitions, and shared tools, CREA-UP empowers both creatives and citizens to take part in the ecological transition — transforming discarded materials into new opportunities for learning, collaboration, and green employment.
Because when creativity leads, sustainability follows
